Fourth generation: children
Polish Błaszczychas:
Children of Stanisław (Jan Piotrowski's eldest son):
Anna (Ann) Gacek, maiden name Piotrowska.
The eldest child of Stanisław
and Bronisława).
Born on July 05. 1934 in Strachocina.
Now (1999) she lives in Wojciechów, Poland.
The first Polish Błaszczycha that completed a high school.
Being graduated she was sent (it was a compulsory direction to job)
to Silesia to work at primary schools as a teacher of Polish language
and literature. It was in the beginning of 1950s.
She stayed there lifelong.
Married to Zygmunt Gacek.
They have two (now adult) daughters: Ewa and Beata.
For long years she was a teacher and a deputy director
at the primary school in Zębowice
(near Opole in Silesia). Now (1996.) retired.
There was a very dramatic story (with a good end) with
their moving from Zębowice.
They lived there (very comfortably) for almost forty
years in a house that was communal (village) property.
In 1994 it was sold and they had to move anywhere.
They didn't have much money and it seemed that they would
live in a small cubicle in a little country town in neighborhood.
They felt in despair. Fortunately everything changed as if by magic.
Their daughter Ewa found for them (for rather little money)
a big (though dilapidated)
house with a very big plot of ground..
They have repaired the house (plenty of rooms!) and now (1999)
they live better than before.
They have got a very big garden, full of beautifull flowers
(Anna grows them).
Zygmunt (Sigismund) Gacek,
Anna's husband since 1956.
Born on October 07, 1928 in Sieniawa (near Jarosław), Poland,
died on February 10, 2005 i Wojciechów, Poland.
He was a director of a sawmill in Zebowice.
Former Communist Party (PZPR - Polish United Workers
Party) member (if he was not he would not be a director)
but even a local leader.
Later he rather strongly criticized new reality of today's
Polish "post-Communist capitalism".
He was a very honest, upright man.
Dedicated hunter and lover of wildlife. He rather peeped
then killed animals.
Could walk endlessly around the forest and talk by the hours about
his deers and wild boars.
Barbara Jadwiga (Barbara Hedvig) D±browska,
maiden name Piotrowska.
Born in Strachocina on February 05. 1939 (her parents were
rather disappointed -
they awaited a son!).
Now (1999) she lives in Sanok, Poland.
Married to Tadeusz D±browski.
Widowed in 1990 at age of 51.
She has two adult children
(but lives in Sanok alone).
Once a teacher in a primary school, later a laboratory
assistant at the animal clinic in Sanok.
Now retired.
Excellent cook (Rose, Earl and Lorrie can surely confirm this!).
Takes care of the family house in Strachocina.
Tadeusz (Thaddeus) D±browski,
Barbara's late husband.
Born in 1934 in Strachocina,
died on July 21. 1990 in Sanok from heart attack.
He was an animal doctor, a director of animal
clinic in Sanok.
A very big and tall, jovial man (too fat that showed to be fatal).
On account of his job widely known and on account of his
personality widely respected and even loved in the whole region.
He was a Communist Party (PZPR) member (though anti-Communist! -
if he was not in the Party he would not be a director!)
but withdrew after introducing the martial law in 1981.
Later prosecuted for this.
His grave is at Sanok's Communal Cemetery.
Władysław (no English equivalent) Henryk
(Henry) Piotrowski,
the third child and the first (long expected) son of
Stanisław and
Bronisława.
Born on January 19. 1943 in Strachocina.
Now he lives in Gdańsk-Osowa, Poland in a house of his own.
A very special man. A "restless spirit"
never contented with himself and with his achievements.
He was graduated at Merchant Marine College
(now: Gdynia Maritime Academy)
and worked for several years with the Polish Ocean Lines as
a deck officer at sea-going ships.
Then he started to study at the Gdańsk Technical University
where he acquired
a master's degree in electrical engineering.
Later he worked at various posts in a few towns of
northern Poland (Nakło, Gródek, Gdańsk).
Now (1996) at Gdańskie Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej
(Gdańsk Communal Central Heating Company)
as a manager (of a relatively high level).
He is also a member of a board of directors of his company
(as a representative of the staff).
In May 1971 he married
Teresa "Ina" Rocławska
(later they were formally divorced for a couple of years
in order to not loose their flat in Gdańsk -
at times of the Communist regime in Poland such a conduct
sometimes was forced by law).
They have two adult children (sons).
In March 1968 he took part in the student anti-Communist
manifestations.
Since then he has been in anti-Communist opposition.
In 1980-81 he was a local "Solidarity" leader.

a "post-Solidarity" political party.
He is the head of a party circle in his quarter
Oliwa (Osowa is its part).
In 1994 he was a candidate of his party to the
City Council but was not elected.
He visited the USA several times: as a seaman (during one
of his stays they cut his appendix -
in Newark) and as an illegal worker (twice).
For the money he earned there he bought a house in Gdańsk-Osowa.
He is known in America as Henry.
He is "a glue" that connects the Polish
branch of the family of Błaszczychas.
He is the co-author of the present "Guidebook"
that utilizes widely data from his great "History of
Błaszczychas".
He convened reunions
of Błaszczychas in Strachocina: in 1990 and in 2000
(see Reunions of Błaszczychas).
In 1999 he - together with his brother Tadeusz -
visited Hudi Log, Slovenia
to find grave of their grandfather Jan.
Teresa Barbara (Theresa Barbara) Piotrowska,
maiden name Rocławska, called "Ina".
Władysław's wife since May 1971.
Born on February 08. 1947 in Kasparus (near Starogard, Poland).
Her maternal grand-mother was a German (from Berlin).
She was graduated as a dentist at Gdańsk Medical Academy.
Now has a private dentist practice.
She is extremely sociable.
At the house of hers (and Władek's) there are guests literally every day
(and a smaller or bigger party).
Tadeusz Stanisław (Thaddeus Stanislaus) Piotrowski
(main co-author of the present "Guidebook")
Born on October 18. 1945 in Strachocina.
His grand-mother Paulina
wanted to protect him from being "Dziki Wojtek"
(Wild Vojteck, see
Wojciech Piotrowski)
and forbade his parents to name him Wojciech. (Does it work ?)
Now he lives in Gdańsk-Oliwa, Poland in a little flat
(condominium) at IX floor.
His e-mail is:
testep@am.gdynia.pl
Positively not gifted to practical affairs,
hardly adapted to the life in the former "developed socialist
society"
and also to today's "post-Communist capitalistic society".
On February 9. 1974 he married Elżbieta.
They had three children: two daughters that died
just after birth (prematurely born) and a son,
now (2003) adult (and even married already).
Graduated as an electrical engineer with a
master's degree at the Gdańsk Technical University (in 1970).
He went there (from a far-off Galician village)
following his elder brother Władysław.
He wanted to study at the Merchant Marine College
but was rejected because of
(then yet small) short sight and partial daltonism.
Nevertheless in 1970 he was engaged
a teacher at the same College
(that had changed into the Gdynia Maritime Academy).
He was sent to the Polish Ocean Lines where he worked
as a marine electrician at sea-going ships
(to get marine training). Later he returned to teaching.
In 1983 he received a degree of a Ph.D.
(in electrical engineering) from the Gdańsk Technical University.
He teaches Electrical Network Theory.

He wrote his first politic publicist article in 1981.
In 1990s he published several articles
in "Tygodnik Solidarno¶ć" and "Najwyższy Czas".
He has been also the editor (and the main author) of "Nasz Głos"
- the paper of "Solidarno¶ć" in Gdynia Maritime Academy.
Several times visited the USA:
as a seaman in 1972 (two times) and in 1990 as
a United Nations
fellow (at the George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia).
In 1972 he visited big cities at East Coast (New York, Philadelphia,
Savannah, Jacksonville) and was fascinated with the climate of then
America of "hippies".
In 1990 he spent several weekends in Washington (Fairfax is very near it)
mainly walking around its Downtown (visiting Capitol, White House,
Unknown Soldier at Arlington, Smithsonian museums etc.).
Certainly no American Błaszczycha knows
the capital of the USA so detaily as he does.
During this last stay he came into contact with
Rose
that gave the beginning to reviving of ties between
Polish and American branches of the family.
In 1999 he - together with his brother Władysław -
visited Hudi Log, Slovenia
to find grave of their grandfather Jan.

Tadeusz (me).
